Become an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor
The NRA Certified Instructor Training Course is taught by a NRA Certified Training Counselor. Candidates will learn NRA policies and procedures, basic public speaking skills, training methodology, use of a training team, training aids, course organization, budget considerations, and how to prepare to instruct an initial basic pistol course to individuals with little or no experience.
Each candidate will be provided with the appropriate lesson plans and basic course student packet. Course includes role-play with candidates working both individually and in teams. Each candidate is evaluated on his/her ability to safety handle firearms with confidence, use of appropriate training aids, and adherence to the basic pistol lesson plans. All learning objectives will be accomplished utilizing the teaching philosophies expected of NRA Certified Instructors.
Anyone desiring to become a NRA Certified Pistol Instructor must complete the entirety of the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting (Instructor Led Training) Course BEFORE they can attend an Instructor Training Course, and must also pass the NRA Pistol Instructor Training Pre-Course Qualification. The NRA Pistol Instructor Training Pre-Course Qualification details can be found here.
The tuition cost for the NRA Pistol Instructor Training Course is only $350 per person and does not include any associated cost of live-fire or munition ammunition; range use fee if you don't have a NRA Range Membership; or the one-time $10 fee for an NRA Range Card if you do not already have one.
